Chardust's Nairobi Factory
Factory

Chardust's centre of operations is a 2 acre plot adjacent to the Ololua Forest in Lang'ata, Nairobi. This is the company head office and home of the main briquetting operation. It is also the base for Chardust's programme of research and development.

Chardust's main product is known as the Vendor's Waste Briquette - 'VWB'. This is a pillow-shaped briquette weighing approximately 35 gms. It's made from charcoal dust and fines that are salvaged from charcoal traders within the city of Nairobi.

VWB burns for over 3 hours with no smoke, sparks or smell. This makes it ideal for space heating and water heating applications, as well as cooking and roasting. VWB is sold to institutional customers such as poultry farmers, hotels, lodges and restaurants, as well as to charcoal dealers and individuals for direct sales into the domestic market. Click here for information on VWB packaging and prices.

Chardust also produces a premium charcoal briquette made from selected vendors' waste and natural binders. This lower ash product is designed for the domestic barbecue market and is sold mainly through supermarkets within the city of Nairobi. Click here for information on BBQ charcoal packaging and prices.

The Nairobi factory has recently been expanded and overhauled to accommodate new briquetting equipment from India. This machinery has enabled production systems to be rationalised and efficiency to be increased, at the same time as improving worker conditions.
